Where the pros play—that was the dream brothers and Jackson natives Reed and Ronnie Pierce wanted to bring to the metro area. As the 1995 U. S. Open 9-Ball Champion, Reed has definitely brought his talents to his upscale billiards and sports bar. With 8 professional size tables and plenty of space, a great night of tournament play or casual pool with buddies is awaiting you at Reed Pierce’s. They have established a clean and well-run, fun place to enjoy some great food, great fun and live music.
The drink: Reed’s offers a full service bar with plenty of bar seating in two areas: a back of house bar and one in the middle with great high seating and table service as well. At the center is a fully stocked bar with all the name brands as well as many specialty drinks they serve up daily. Plenty of domestic and import beers by the bottle or on draft are served up ice cold as well with timely service and friendly staff. Wine by the glass or the bottle also flows and happy hour is from 4-7 p.m. daily with special drink prices.
If you are a martini, cosmo, or even an order-your-own-concoction drinker, the bar staff will certainly do their best to please. The outside tiki bar is open when the weather is cooperative and if you aren’t careful you will forget you are in the metro area.
The décor: Nice, wide open and with plenty of socializing space is what you will find as soon as you arrive. The area of professional-quality billiard tables offers up plenty of casual pool playing as well as tourney opportunities. They have plenty of televisions to sit around at one of their great tables and root for your favorite sports teams.
Outside on the huge patio there are plenty of tables and umbrellas as well as a bar with table service at all times. A huge New Orleans style fountain situated in the middle of the large patio is great for sitting around while sipping on your adult beverage. Gathering with large groups is easily enjoyed as you will be quite comfortable while still enjoying the music of the night.
The crowd: You will find a wide range of age groups, from college age students to the young at heart all mingling in a wonderful setting of fun and relaxation. You will see diehard pool players, dinner and dancing, and plenty of meeting and greeting going on every night. I can guarantee you won’t be uncomfortable no matter your age is chances are you will know someone there or will definitely meet some great new people. With owners Reed and Ronnie and their managers and staff you will have instant friends waiting to meet you.
The service: Come on in, grab a chair or a stool and in a matter of seconds one of the great wait staff will be ready to take your drink or food order. Feel free to go to the bar and order your own adult beverage or sit back and relax while they quickly get your beverage for you. Some of the best service around with smiling faces and timely attention is a definite plus at Reed Pierce’s.
The sounds: Of course, most often the main sound you’ll hear is the crack of the pool cue—but there’s also the great jukebox and the abundantTVs, of course. But on Friday and Saturday nights the live bands pump out some great music variety while the dance floor quickly fills up.
The food: A full service menu is available every night of the week with plenty of appetizers, wraps, burgers, and poboys for that quick hunger fix. Or indulge yourself from the wonderful array of entrées that include steaks, seafood, and pasta that are definitely worth of a try as you sit back, relax and enjoy the sights and sounds.
The damage: Plenty of food and drink awaits your visit with very reasonable prices for the fun, enjoyable, delicious and definite good time. The dream of the Pierce brothers and their professional style of running their Sports bar and Restaurant is definitely worthy of their logo of “Eat Drink and Play.” I know I am definitely grabbing some friends and heading back down south of Jackson for some good eats, drink and fun as soon as possible.
