Review: Sportsman's Lodge

A sports fanatic's dream hangout with much...

Sportsman’s Lodge, located in Maywood Mart in north Jackson, is a sports-themed restaurant and bar with a comfortable feel with a wide range of mid-priced food items. Chris Jacobs has brought a great combination of sports and just plain fun to his three year old establishment.  Whether you are looking for a quick lunch, happy hour with friends, or a late night gathering spot, you will definitely be pleased with the offerings at Sportsman’s Lodge.

The drink: Sportsman’s Lodge offers a full service bar with plenty of bar seating as well as plenty of tables and stools situated around the large interior. A fully stocked bar with all the name brands as well as many specialty drinks is the centerpiece of the establsihment.

They serve over 100 different beer brands and all are just right for the sports-loving, television-watching, grab-a-bite-to-eat crowd. Sportsman's is open seven days a week and offers a happy hour from 3-7 p.m. daily.

Ice cold beer, plenty of adult libations, sports watching or playing video games makes Sportsman’s Lodge a must visit for a good time in a very comfortable atmosphere.

The décor: You will find Sportsman’s in the northern corner of Maywood Mart in northeast Jackson with plenty of parking and an surprisingly large interior.

Lots of tables are available to sit and have a delicious meal, and there's over 20 flat screen televisions for sports watching, and an entire area for a friendly game of pool. You can let your competitive edge come out with all the video games that are available with games of fishing, skiing, hunting, and more to get you going for a great night of fun and relaxation.

The crowd: During the day you will find local business customers enjoying a great lunch while catching up on their favorite sports team, and right after work the crowd begins to change for the happy hour with coworkers or later in the night the diehard pool player or video gamer begins to ascend on this hot spot.

Open seven days a week they are definitely open for business with a wide range of customers and offer up some mighty friendly service. There's plenty of entertainment  during the day and a great meeting spot for some fun night time chilling that can be enjoyed until 2:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday.  On Sunday’s you can have a good meal and stay and watch your favorite NFL team until 10:00 p.m.

The service: Excellence is the name of the game. They have some great wait staff that is ready to serve your meal or your drink and help you have a nice and comfortable good time. All you need to do is just come on in, grab a chair or stool and relax and unwind with some good eats, good drink and plenty to watch and do.

The sounds: The main sounds you will hear is plenty of laughing, conversation and a little bit of hell-raising when those football diehards start getting in to the college or pro games during a big game day.

Don’t forget to punch in your favorite artists and songs on the internet jukebox and sing a long if you want as you won’t feel the least bit uncomfortable. They also have live karaoke on Wednesday nights and live bands occassionally on the weekends.

The food: Sportsman’s Lodge is not in the business of quick bar foods. You can find plenty of good eats with their expansive mid-priced menu of salads, sandwiches, burgers, and don’t forget their award-winning sports-themed hot dogs. They're some of the best you will find around and all worthy of a try.

The damage: Depending on your appetite, you will find mid-priced food, adult beverage specials, plenty of beer offerings and just downright fun happening every day of the week. A sportsman’s paradise in a fun and festive atmosphere is all right there. If you don’t try to knock-it-out of the park with your experience you won’t break the bank while enjoying a great time of entertainment and good old fashioned fun.
