A renovation project that has sky rocketed thehistoric downtown rebirth of Hattiesburg. Opened in the old Coca-Cola plant that was built in 1915 and historically known as having Hattiesburg's very first elevator. Since the Coca-Cola Bottling plant shut down in 1960, the building stood as an abandoned warehouse. In 2004 the rebirth began and when finally finished, 2-weeks before the grand opening, the Bottling Company was hit hard by Hurricane Katrina, leveling the efforts back down to where it started. Fortunately this didn't stop them. Since August 2006, after officially opening, this old building has become the established venue for big-name bands to play. It houses folk art, roots music and down-home cooking as well. It was recently named Best Live Music Venue by Mississippi Magazine for its grand scale acoustics and large space for crowds plus its eclectic atmosphere. They have daily blue plate lunch specials for $6.99 and daily events like open mic night, beer pong and all night happy hours with 2 for 1 wells and long necks. Shots are always $3. BoCo also sponsors the Downtown Pub Crawl happening the second Friday of every month which promotes the community of other bars in the area, all within walking distance. The weekend starting Thursday features live music opening at 10 p.m. Some names that have come through are J.J. Grey & Mofro, North MS All-stars, Blue Mountain, Drive by Truckers, Mayhem String Band and Galactic to name a few.
