Get Lazy

When Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company was founded in Kiln, Miss., in 2005, beer drinkers across the state breathed a collective sigh of relief (which was followed by a resounding burp).

Finally, Mississippi had a beer to call its own and darned if it wasn't a pretty great one at that. Led by the brewery's flagship brew Southern Pecan (which, I don't care what anybody says, our neighbors at Abita straight-up ripped off with their seasonal Harvest Pecan), Lazy Magnolia's offerings are rounded out by a equally delicious lineup of seasonal and specialty brews.

So if you're a beer lover and you want to swell with a sense of pride for your home state along with your bladder, check out these metro area establishments that proudly serve Lazy Magnolia.

Once an out-of-the-way retreat for hardworking blue-collar boozehounds, Sam's has evolved into one of the hippest hidden nightspots in Jackson. Sam's is the preferred watering hole of Jackson's metalhead, punk rock, skateboard and tattoo contingents and more — Jackson's own Capital City Rollergirls are regulars — if that gives you any idea of the hard-partying and trendy clientele. Sam's also features live bands, mostly on weekends, ranging from metal to punk to straight up rock. Many local faves like Redneck Trucker, Goodman County and Hypnotic Chickens perform regularly. On off nights, Sam's is still a great place to grab a cheap drink, shoot some pool and rock out to the headbanging hits on their internet-capable jukebox.
