First Look: Poets II
30 years ago, Poets on Lakeland Drive in the Quarter was synonymous with great live music and food.
After closing in the early part of this decade, the historic location went through several iterations, most recently housing Mugshots, a burgers-and-beer franchise that began in Hattiesburg.
With Mugshots moving further down Lakeland to the former Corky’s building to take advantage of Flowood’s new resort status, the owners decided to reopen as Poets II in the same location to preserve the Jackson nightlife landmark.
With renovations and a new menu, it looks like Poets is back and better than ever to fill Jackson’s need for a venue that combines local live music and outstanding food. Open for lunch and dinner, Poets II will fill your needs, whether you are looking for a night of live music and dancing, or an evening out for fine dining.
For sports fans, several large HDTV’s and video games are waiting for you. Call 601-982-9711 to find out about daily specials and sporting events, as Poets II is just getting started recapturing its former glory.
