Every year, blues legend B.B. King comes to Jackson to perform a concert in honor of the memory of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers. Called the Medgar Evers/B.B. King Homecoming, the 46th annual concert was held at the old Big Lots building on Ellis Avenue on Saturday, June 6. Others performers included the Rev. Joe A. Washington, John Haley, Katrina Jefferson, Chick Willis, Clarence Carter and Bobby "Blue" Bland. Homecoming events continue through June 12, with a banquet, picnic and gospel show.
