No Doubt at a photo shoot in 1996, shortly after the release of their second album for Interscope, "Tragic Kingdom." Eric Stefani left the band in 1994 to pursue a career as an animator; after his departure, Gwen began writing all of her own lyrics, and the group's music took on a more straightforward pop style.
