From sissy bounce to Scooby-Doo, our coverage of Voodoo day three
Despite the eclectic and often costumed lineup, ranging from mouse-headed techno star Deadmau5 to pop provocateurs MGMT sporting Scooby-Doo costumes, the final day of the Voodoo Art and Music Experience was dominated by New Orleans artists. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, a local musical institution, performed early in the afternoon and helped end the evening, collaborating with headliners My Morning Jacket for inspired covers. Early in the evening, sissy bounce stars Big Freedia and Sissy Nobby represented the up-and-coming local spin on hip-hop. The three-day festival ended successfully, a party that could only happen in New Orleans.
