Shortly after its launch a mere five years ago, YouTube quickly established itself as the World Wide Web's most fertile incubator of amateur talent. As early as 2007, young singers like Mia Rose and Terra Naomi were using YouTube to jump-start their quests for legitimate musical careers—but it was still mostly keyboard cats and "Chocolate Rain" until last year, when a kid from Canada named Justin Bieber (pictured) proved that YouTube could be as powerful as "American Idol" in building a rabid fan base.
