If you are looking for good southern farm raised catfish, Cindy’s Fish House is the place to be. Cindy’s has been locally owned and operated since 1967, and I believe over 40 years in business speaks for itself. They have a huge local and metro area following and you won’t be disappointed upon your visit.
The food: As the name certainly implies, fish, fish and more fish is what you will find at Cindy’s Fish House, however they do offer a variety of food items if you’re not feeling fishy.
The fried catfish plates are served with hushpuppies and fries along with their homemade cole slaw. If you are a filet lover they offer small, medium, large and all you can eat options. If you are more accustomed to a whole catfish, they have one whole to four whole catfish plates available as well. Other fried entrees include shrimp, chicken, oysters, stuffed crab, a fillet and shrimp combo plate or a great seafood plate ($6.25-$13.50).
A nice assortment of appetizers to begin your meal is available. They are reasonably priced and include fried dill pickles, onion rings, mozzarella cheese sticks, cheese stuffed jalapeno peppers, hot wings or a combo plate of cheese sticks and peppers ($4.75-$6.95).
For the sandwich lover be sure to try one of their great po-boys of shrimp, oyster, fish, or chicken. They also serve up a pretty mean hamburger or cheeseburger. If you are more in the mood for a grilled meal you will find three sizes of grilled catfish plates, shrimp, or a grilled hamburger steak served up with a baked potato and slaw ($6.95-$10.95).
Many of their side items can be purchased to go along with a full take out menu. Their desserts are definitely worth a try as their cobblers are delicious yet you might not know what kind they serve up each day. You can also find ice cream and key lime pie all at a reasonable price. They offer a daily blue plate lunch special that varies as well as their regular menu.
The drink: Cindy’s Fish House is an alcohol-free environment. However the great iced tea, soft drinks, lemonade, coffee with free refills is the perfect fit for a hungry fish eater.
The scene: Cindy’s is located seven miles north of Brandon and a half mile south of Highway 25 so it is easily accessible from all directions. Having been in business for over 40 years and with the great family atmosphere you will not be disappointed with any of their offerings. There are plenty of tables and an area for large groups or tables for two for a nice fairly quiet meal.
The bottom line: You will really enjoy a nice experience with an outing to Cindy’s Fish House. As soon as you enter the building you are probably going to see someone you know. People come from all directions for some of the best food you can possibly find anywhere at a reasonable price.
So gather up some friends or family and take a nice drive and enjoy some of the best service, friendly atmosphere and down home good cooking at a price that won’t break your piggy bank.
