Cosmopolitan Café is the brain child of Macy Chester an established caterer in the Jackson metro area. She along with members of her family decided to let everyone in Jackson have an opportunity to feast on their family recipes that have been handed down through the generations of their family. The Cosmopolitan Café's great lunch options are now the buzz about town.

The Food

Each day they have a rotating entrée menu filled with meats and vegetables as well as salads and sandwiches. For less than $10 you can choose a meat and a couple of veggie sides and have a delicious hearty lunch. The entrées each day contain at least three meat choices, and at least six vegetable sides. I have now tried the poppy seed chicken and smoked pulled pork and they are both a definite must try as the taste and flavors are excellent. They also offer beef brisket, chicken and dumplings, pork tenderloin, meat loaf, chicken spaghetti, ribs, and so much more. The flavors of each dish are definitely house made fresh daily with some excellent vegetable seasonings. The sweet and sour green beans are one of my new favorite items and you can tell a whole lot of love and time tested recipes are going into every dish. I recently picked up a couple of the Cosmo burgers that I have been hearing a lot of talk about and if you are burger hungry then don't pass up this burger as it was very good and juicy. Some of the daily vegetables include green beans, scalloped potatoes, butter beans, corn salad, slaw, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and squash casserole on a rotating schedule.

If you are just salad hungry then the salad trio is a good bet by picking three from smoked chicken salad, green salad, pasta salad, corn salad or slaw for $8.00. The sandwich offerings also vary by the day of the week with offerings of smoked chicken salad, pulled pork, the burger, and also some very good pimento and cheese. The sweet offerings include chocolate chess pie, lemon icebox pie, strawberry shortcake, pecan pie and oh how good they all are for $2 a slice.

The Drink

They offer the regular array of soft drinks and never ending cold iced tea to quench your thirst with any of your lunch plates. They will be happy to serve you at your table with plenty of refills or grab a cup to go to enjoy on your trip back home or the office.

The Scene

Bustling, retro décor and a bright and airy eating space with plenty of room to move around is what's happening. The helpful, efficient and cheery wait staff and the owners are right on the spot to help you with making your decisions. Give them a call and they will have your take out order waiting for you when you stop in. If you want to peruse the menu of the day just come in, order your favorites and in just a short time they will bring you everything you need to go along with your delicious meal.

The Bottom Line

Cosmopolitan Café is another welcomed restaurant to the exciting Fondren area of Jackson. They are bringing their long time catering dishes to the public with the café and it is definitely worth a visit. They offer casseroles to go if you are in need of a fantastic meal for later in the evening or if you need a catered event then they've got that covered as well. Cosmopolitan Café is definitely a nice added addition to the metro and worthy of frequent visits. Be sure to follow them on Facebook for their daily lunch specials and become of fan.
