Soulshine Pizza Factory is an authentic pizzeria that is locally owned and operated with two locations in the metro area. If you are looking for top notch pizzas with a great atmosphere and plenty of options, then they are a sure bet. Forget the regular chain style pizza and drop in for the real deal of fresh baked, piping hot pizzas, calzones and more.
The food: Appetizer offerings of soups, breads, hot wings and hot tamales are some of the best around and are sure to get your dining experience started just right. The salads are excellent with a house salad, Caesar, chef, grilled chicken, and a Greek. There’s plenty of dressings to choose from to go along with them which also make pretty good dipping sauces.
You can find a weekday lunch special of pizza with a salad (or crawfish soup) and a drink for a reasonable $9.99 or just a pizza for $5.95. They also feature a calzone, po-boy and soup and salad daily special.
Calzones abound with five offerings as well as a “build your own” calzone with your favorite ingredients. Entrees of spaghetti and meatballs, red beans and rice, and a Nathan’s hot dog are available daily as well.
Looking for some unique po boys? Then you’ve come to the right place with some great sandwich names and 12 offerings. From the Mama Mia of meatballs and mozzarella, to the Uncle Jesse BBQ and pepper jack, you will becoming back to try them all.
Of course, they’ve also got pizzas galore with 24 signature offerings that come in three different sizes: 8-inch, 12-inch or the sharing size of 16-inch. They are made fresh to order with your choice of regular thin crust or wheat bread and served up piping hot with an incredible array of toppings. We personally tried the Carnivore, filled with five different meats and a create-your-own 4 cheese with bacon and ham and we were definitely impressed with both.
Every type of topping imaginable is available with pesto, Alfredo, garlic ranch, BBQ, or marinara sauces. Artichoke hearts, black beans, broccoli, olives, jalapenos, pineapple mushrooms are only a few of the many veggies to add to your favorite combos. The meat offerings abound with anchovies, sausage, bacon, crawfish, chicken, beef, ham and many more.
You will have to spend a few minutes just getting your taste buds ready for the variety of toppings you prefer. Then of course decisions have to be made for the right cheeses to pull your favorite pizza together. ($5.95-$26.95) are the standard prices for the pizzas with an additional charge for extras but you are definitely in for a delicious meal.
The drink: Soft drinks and iced tea are available with free refills. The beer offerings are served up in Mason jars and are iced cold with plenty of choices. They also serve up some nice wines by the glass to complement your meal. So come in ready to enjoy some great food and beverage with your visit.
The scene: Soulshine Pizza Factory having two locations in the area catches people from a wide area of the metro with plenty of dine in, take out and catering offerings.
The Highland Colony Parkway location where we dined is nice, open and airy with great knowledgeable wait staff that definitely aims to please. A nice side covered side porch is enjoyable for outside dining as well as the interior with some fantastic blues playing.
The décor is definitely good blues, down home Mississippi with plenty of local artifacts, guitars, albums and a sit back and relax feel to it. On Friday nights you really need to check out the live local bands they feature as you wind down from your week and head toward the weekend.
The bottom line: Soulshine is authentic, unique, appetizing, fun and relaxing, with superb service and delicious food. It is some of the best pizza we have had in years. With the live music on Friday nights and the great tunes playing during the rest of the week, it is a definite must-visit for lunch or dinner. Once you dive in to your pizza you will definitely want to grab your friends or family to go back and check out another one of their uniquely delicious pizzas, calzones, or po-boys.
