Inside: Mugshots
With Flowood having recently passed a law allowing single-glass liquor sales in the city, it was only a matter of time before new businesses started cropping up around the high-profile Dogwood shopping area to cater to those in need of a post-shopping toddy.
In the case of Mugshots—the Mississippi grill and bar chain with origins in Hattiesburg that caters to the college crowd—they've taken the plunge early.
Leaving behind their location in the Quarter that was formerly home to Poets and Panino's, they moved into the larger building on the corner of Lakeland and Airport Drives that was built by Corky's BBQ and was formerly home to the Chimneyville Fish House.
So what's changed? Not much at all—Mugshots still serves up the gourmet-caliber burgers and appetizers they're famous for, as well as operating a bar that becomes a college hangout after dark with live music and drink specials.
If you're a regular eater, you'll appreciate their more open, brighter dining area. If you're a bar regular, you'll appreciate it even more on those drink special nights when it gets crowded.
And if you've never been and enjoy burgers at all, you've seriously been missing out. See if you can tackle The Mugshot—a three-patty burger piled high with all the fixins with a side of fries, a pickle and an onion ring. Finish it in under 12 minutes and it's free, or it's $20 and a lifetime of shame.
